This is important, earlier when I had tried to install without this I had error while upgrading. I can't seem to find ESXi 5 or 5. Any insight on this?? The server is supported for ESXi 5. And keep in mind there is always the option to start with a fresh install of the ESXi version of your choice onto a USB stick using the VMWare ISO and just recreating the configuration you had and re-importing the VMs into inventory from the datastore.
It may not be the easiest path depending on your configuration, but it would be easier than trying to upgrade and having that completely tank on you. Just get the recovery ISO from Dell. Both builds have operated fine, but the Dell builds should have better hardware reporting available for all the Dell specific sensors in the servers.
I've never configured monitoring at that level to know what does or doesn't report properly - that's a project for another day I think. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.
